Post-valuation quality check of multiple-choice questions

Background: Multiple choice questions find important place in assessment medical curriculum. Each MCQ is called item. Item analysis quality check of MCQs after valuation response sheets. This serves to recognize flaws so that the given can be preserved question bank, modified or deleted. Methods: 140 students second MBBS were assessed pharmacology through 20 single best type MCQ. Post exam validation was done by item analysis. analyzed for level difficulty, ability discriminate between poor and good performing distracter effectiveness.Results: Score ‘1’ correct ‘0’ incorrect no response. The mean score test found 10.58±2.48, with a range 5-18. whole had an acceptable difficulty 43.25±17.81 index. discrimination index 0.123±0.184 PBI correlation coefficient, which not satisfactory. Out 60 distractors, 51 functional, hence distractor efficiency 85%±19.96% acceptable.Conclusions: 60% ideal 25% revision stem options. One easy needs major modification construct subject placed bank while another one difficult but negative biserial deleted from bank.
